Undergraduate Scholarships

The Institute of Technology has a number of scholarships available for incoming undergraduate students. The deadline to apply for Autumn 2008 is June 1, 2008. For a complete application and instructions on how to apply click here.

Henry T. Schatz UWT Institute of Technology Endowed Scholarship

The Henry T. Schatz UWT Institute of Technology Endowed Scholarship is designated to deserving undergraduate student(s) in the Institute of Technology at the University of Washington, Tacoma so they have the opportunity to develop more time to the rigors of analytical and logical studies and thus develop their "creativity and critical thinking" ability.

The scholarship is awarded to entering students to the Institute of Technology at the University of Washington, Tacoma and selection shall be based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. Financial need shall be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. The award will be for one academic year.

Henry Schatz is the current President of General Plastics Manufacturing Co., founded in Tacoma by his father in 1941. He is a long-time supporter of the University of Washington, Seattle, where he graduated in 1964 with a B.S.M.E. He has been an enthusiastic advocate of the University of Washington, Tacoma since its inception and continues to be one of its most ardent supports.

Simpson Investment Company Endowed Scholarship

The Simpson Investment Company Endowed Scholarship is to provide assistance to undergraduate students in math, science, and technology at the University of Washington, Tacoma.

The scholarship is awarded to entering students to UWT and may be renewable for an additional year of undergraduate study. Students selection shall be based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. Financial need shall be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Preference will be given to students who have been through the Simpson Math and Science Internship (as long as such program exists).

Founded in 1890, Simpson is one of the oldest, continuously operating forest products companies in the Pacific Northwest. Few companies survive for more than a century without a commitment to the future. Simpson tries to take the long-term view in everything they do in their operations and in supporting organizations in the communities they call home.
