Policies
TLC Facility Use
All clients and visitors to The Center are expected to refrain from disrupting the work and study of others. This includes using soft voices, leaving your work areas clean for the next person, not interrupting other consultations, etc. Students are expected to follow the student conduct code.
Computer Use
- Computer logins: Users must have their own UW netid, UWT campus computer login to login into the TLC's campus computers
- Please do not ask our employees to log you in
- Public access computers are available in the UWT Library
Printing Options
- Students may print at the free station located in the TLC. Students must provide their own paper for the free printer.
- Students may also print (for a charge) from Key 202 (any computer station) to any of the computer labs on campus, to the copy center, and to the library using the Pharos system.
- Students may download their work to a flash drive or send their work to themselves via email.
- Students may also print at the free stations in the WCG atrium. Students must provide their own paper for the free printers.
Drop-in appointments (Math)
- Math only offers drop-in appointments
- Students must fill in a yellow sheet every time they meet with a tutor
- Sessions are on a first come, first serve basis
- During peak times students will have to wait their turn
Appointments (writing, reading, learning strategies)
Make your appointment
Please make your appointments at least one hour prior to the appointment time. You are always welcome to stop by if it looks like a consultant is open; however, we may have assigned him/her to other clients or duties at that time.
- Be sure to fill out all of the required information (Instructor, Course Number, and what you would like to work on.
Appointment time
- Students are allowed 1 hour per day, including drop-in and online assistance
- Please do not sign up for more than 1 hour per day or all of your appointments will be expunged from the schedule.
Cancellations
- Please call 253-692-4417 or use the online system if you need to cancel an appointment.
Late and/or Missed Appointments
- Appointments are held for 10 minutes; if you are more than 10 minutes late the consultant may begin to work with another student
- Please call us (253-692-4417) if you are going to be late or need to cancel so we may serve another student
- If a student is late to a 50 minute appointment he/she will lose the first 25 minutes, but can still have the second 25 minutes of the appointment. However, this will count as 1 missed appointment.
- If a student misses 3 appointments without calling, he/she will no longer be able to schedule appointments through our online system for the remainder of the quarter.
- If you have any trouble making an appointment, please call the reception desk at 253.692.4417, or stop by the reception desk in Keystone 202 for assistance.
Online Writing Center
- Responses to papers may take up to 72 hours
- Students must be registered in our online system to receive assistance
- Include your assignment, course number, and instructor
- Consultants only have 25 minutes per paper
- Pick a small section of your paper that you would like to have reviewed
- Be very specific with what you want covered
Drop-in appointments
- Writing drop-in appointments are:
- Monday - Thursday from 10am to 11am and 3pm to 4pm
- Friday from 10am to 11am
- Drop-in appointments are for 25 minutes only
- Students must sign up at the front desk and be registered in the online system
- Students can only have one appointment per drop-in period
- Drop-in appointments are on a first come, first serve basis
