What we do
Sessions are collaborative. We work with you to support your ongoing learning of the writing process. We are here to help you improve as a writer, to assist you in clearly expressing your thoughts and ideas. We offer consultation on any stage of the writing process. For example, you may:
- have a quick question regarding citations (APA, MLA, Chicago, Bluebook)
- be uncertain how to narrow down a topic
- need to develop ideas for a thesis
- have questions about paraphrasing and plagiarism
- have difficulty structuring and organizing
- need help identifying patterns of grammar misuse
- need help with a group project
- need to understand different learning strategies
- have questions about critical reading
We welcome questions from all students at any point of the writing process
However, we are not a proofreading service (see handout). We will help you identify spelling, punctuation, and other errors so that you can correct them yourself in the future. Please allow plenty of time for revision before your assignment is due.
Please bring in your syllabus and/or assignment requirements so that we have a better idea of what you need to work on. We also offer helpful suggestions for time management and other learning strategies.
Remember having a second pair of eyes is good for everyone.
