Scholarships & Fellowships for Urban Studies students

The Urban Studies program announces scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year.  Students are encourage to apply for more than one scholarship.  Only one application is needed to apply for all scholarships.  Full details and submission dates below.  

 

Brian Coffey Endowed Scholarship

Amount:  $2,500
Purpose:  Undergraduate or graduate student tuition & fees during 2017-2018 year 
Eligibility criteria:  Enrolled full-time for at least one quarter during the 2017-18 year; major in Urban Studies, Sustainable Urban Development,  admitted into the Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies.  While not a requirement, consideration will be given for any of the following:  active participation in student organizations; community involvement; international urban activites/interests.
Submission date:  May 2017 (exact date TBD)
Announcement:  June 2017 during Annual Student Award and Scholarship Dinner

Erling O. Mork and Ryan Petty Endowed Scholarship

Amount:  $4,000
Purpose:  Undergraduate student tuition & fees during 2017-2018 year 
Eligibility criteria:  Enrolled full-time for one quarter during the 2017-18 year; academic interest/motivation in urban studies; academic achievement; declared major in Urban Studies or Sustainable Urban Development. While not a requirement, consideration will be given for any of the following:  active participation in student organizations; community involvement; international urban activites/interests.

General Urban Studies Student Scholarship

Amount:  $2,500

General Information

All scholarships funded by the Urban Studies program will be announced in June 2017.  Scholarships applications will be accepted by current or prospective students pursuing a degree - undergraduate or graduate - offered by the Urban Studies Program.  Applicants intenting to pursue a degree must have an application for admission on file by May 2017 (exact date TBD).

Fellowship Opportunities

The Office of Student Fellowships & Awards (OSFA) supports UW Tacoma students in their applications for competitive institutional, national, and international fellowships. In collaboration with campus partners, the OSFA raises awareness of fellowship opportunities, helps students develop the skills and personal insights necessary to pursue scholarships, and provides assistance throughout the application process.
