Professional development
The
University of Washington Tacoma offers a number of opportunities for staff professional development.
- Professional Development Taskforce
A joint effort between administration at the Staff Association, the taskforce develops activities for staff designed to facilitate interactions between staff and encourage personal and professional growth. Events are listed on the UWTSA home page. The taskforce is chaired by Julie Buffington, IAS.
- UW Tacoma Human Resources
See their web site for a list of upcoming training and development opportunities. Also, you can take advantage of the Professional Development Subsidy Program that can provide financial assistance for staff to attend outside training, seminars and conferences.
All UW employees are eligible to take classes at the University through the tuition-exemption program. You pay the fees and earn the credit, but do not have to pay tuition. Not all courses are eligible for tuition exemption and you should discuss your plans with your supervisor before registering.
