Advanced Standing MSW
Beginning Winter 2007, the UW Tacoma Social Work Program will offer a part-time Advanced Standing MSW Program.
What is Advanced Standing?
Designed for eligible graduates of baccalaureate programs in social work/social welfare, Advanced Standing allows students to enter the advanced level of the MSW curriculum.
Am I eligible for Advanced Standing?
To be eligible, applicants must have a BSW or BASW from a U.S. program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
and have graduated within 5 years of entry to the program.
In addition, Advanced Standing candidates must pass ALL social work core courses with a minimum 3.0 ("B") grade and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in the last 90 graded quarter or 60 graded semester credits.
Admission to the program will be competitive as space is limited and many applicants will meet the minimum criteria. Selection will be based on academic background and potential, professional goals matched with program goals and curriculum, social service experience, commitment to social justice and experience with diverse populations.
